A Trusted Peer Network for Single
Family Offices

The Family Office Association was founded in 2007, as a peer network for Single Family Offices. Over the years, members have met every month to exchange ideas, share best practice, and discuss a broad range of family office related issues. TFOA now includes some of the largest and wealthiest families in the world and has evolved into a tight network of trusted contemporaries. What distinguishes TFOA from the many other family office groups is that we’re a true peer network and are not looking to monetize our relationships. A high level of trust has been built up within the group, and we adhere to a strict code of conduct. No member contact information or email lists will ever be shared and members of the group are not actively marketing products or services to other members. The group is for education, networking, pooling diligence, selective co-investment, and a resource for family office professionals to share ideas, deal flow, and best practice.

We host a closed-door, annual symposium for family office principals and professionals, and convene a select number of private events for members to hear from world class speakers on a range of topics. We’ve been fortunate to have experts from exceptional organizations across a broad swath of industrial, commercial, financial, and non-profit sectors. And since TFOA is not a commercial business, we donate profits from our annual symposium towards student scholarships.

While we embrace growth as our global family office relationships multiply, we preserve close friendships between members by hosting small group events and building trust at the individual level.

Membership

The Family Office Association offers membership exclusively to the buy-side family office community, with a focus on privacy, confidentiality, and non-solicitation. While there is no specific AUM requirement, members typically manage assets in the nine or ten figures. The application process ensures eligibility through confidential information, such as team size and AUM, and references from existing family offices are welcome. Service providers and sales representatives are not eligible for membership but can participate in the Virtual Track of the Annual Symposium.
